Let’s not tell a lie now, we all have dirty shoes. Washing them is brilliant but... sometimes your darn washingmachine can shrink them. You could always bring them to get them cleaned at a sneaker cleaners but Is there actually such thing? If there was it’d be pretty pricey I’m sure. Well there actually is a sneaker cleaner and he’s based in Dublin. Now I know what you’re screaming at the screen “HOW MUCH IS IT?! YOU NEVER MENTIONED!“ well luckily enough it’s actually really affordable with a premium clean coming to a

total of €15! How amazing!

I was lucky enough to be able to get a premium clean done for free in exchange to tell you lovely bunch what he’s like. He was actually so good that in the end I did actually pay him.

He was very easy to deal with and agreed to meet me in coolock instead of town because it’s closer to my house but not only that but agreed to meet me the next day. So the time came to drop off my shoes. As are most Irish mammys when meeting up with a total stranger you met online my ma was very nervous and wouldn’t stop constantly going on about if he wasn’t Legit. Now my ma drove all the way round the car park past power city, past the leisure plex and past the oden thinking he was in a car. So I texted him and within 30 seconds he texted me back saying he was outside the odeon on his bike and was wondering if by any chance was that me with the mad woman driving round the whole car park in and out of the rows. I said it was and I’d be out in just a second. He was a very nice youngfella and even complimented my instagram.

Normally you would get the shoes back in two days but he was going on holiday but he did warn me and I was happy to wait.

When I did actually get my shoes back i was extremely impressed! My shoes were damaged already but the sneaker cleaner apologised for that as he thought it was his fault and I really think that’s such a nice thing to do because sometimes people wouldn’t apologise if they did actually do something and they’d just say nothing so it was nice for him to actually notify me.

It doesn’t matter what brand either. Nike, adidas, puma, Reebok or even just €5 shoes from dunnes. He does them all and does them to a high standard.

Now there is questions you may be asking so I’ve got the answers to majority of questions.

Does he clean football boots? No unfortunately not at the moment but It would be something we will look into!

Is it only runners? Will he clean other shoes? at the moment we are only cleaning runner/ sneaker type shoes.

I don’t live in Dublin or anywhere near it. Can I still get my shoes cleaned? Yes! No problem, we have had a number of clients who have mailed up their shoes via an post.

Does he wear my shoes if he likes them before cleaning them? We would never wear a clients shoe as this would break the trust and respect between client and cleaner.

What cleaner does he use? We always use “Sneakers ER” as it is the only product that cleans well 100% of the time.

Is it possible to watch him clean them? It sounds interesting. We regularly post videos of us cleaning so you can see how we clean that way.

Is he currently looking for help? I would be interested in helping. Yes! Over the summer months is our busy season as festivals are in full swing.

Will he be looking for help in the nearby future? We will be looking to hire in the near future.

There is a few negatives to this service though. First one isn’t exactly negative but something you would expect. The only person the sneaker cleaner follows is himself and come on if your paying to get something cleaned you would expect a follow back (well I would anyway) so it would be nice to get a follow back in the future. The next thing is that as far as i know he’s doesn’t put a waterproof coating on the shoe which would be nice considering it isn’t hard to get a waterproof coating spray in fact I saw it in lidil today. He puts a nice freshener on the shoes once done but I found it to be quite unpleasantly smelling. I would suggest a mist of a fabric freshener such as the astonish one. And last but not least the shoes can come back a little bit wet although it could be the freshener.

Overall I’m more than impressed by this service and would and will definitely be using it again! Highly recommended!
